This work is dedicated to a better understanding and acceptance of the great contributions to human knowledge by Ludwig von Mises.
As Mises says: "The first purpose of scientific terminology is to facilitate the analysis of the problems involved." (Human Action, page 434)
It is, therefore, not so much a question as to whether the definition is the popular one or not, but rather does it lead the reader to a better understanding of the highly complex ideas the author is trying to elucidate. (Percy L. Greaves, Jr.)

Percy Greaves has asked me to write a few words as a foreword for his Glossary of Ludwig von Mises' HUMAN ACTION. I most willingly do so.
HUMAN ACTION is well known to me. I typed 980 pages of the manuscript. I shall never forget the concentration with which my husband worked, how carefully he chose every single word and fought with the editor about the slightest editorial change. He never gave in.
Professor von Mises always recognized the great importance of such a Glossary. It should make the reading of HUMAN ACTION easier and provide a fuller understanding of his ideas to a greater circle of readers and students. He appreciated the tremendous amount of work and the thoroughness with which Professor Greaves accomplished his task. I could not do better than repeat my husband's words when he commented on Percy Greaves' recent book, Understanding The Dollar Crisis: "I hope this book will be a great success."

Percy L. Greaves, Jr.

Percy L. Greaves, Jr. (1906-1984) was a free market economist for U.S. News (the forerunner of U.S. News and World Report), and authored several books on economics, including Understanding the Dollar Crisis and Mises Made Easier: A Glossary for Ludwig von Mises' "Human Action". A long-time associate and friend of Ludwig von Mises, he served as Armstrong Professor of Economics with Mises at the University of Plano, Texas. He was also a seminar speaker and discussion leader with the Foundation for Economic Education at Irvington-on-Hudson, New York.
