Barbara Kudrycka discusses the creation of a code of ethics for deputies by the Polish Deputies` Ethics Committee. The bill was passed in July 1998 and is based upon the following principles: impartiality, openness, conscientiousness, accountability, and "a good regard for the good name of the Sejm". The author argues that the introduction of the code was an appropriate step and that it should be followed by codes for other public officials.
