The first section of this publication, Visions of Europe, presents interviews with ten important European figures, all top political leaders as well as the leading players shaping the future of our continent. The second part of the book comprises a number of analyses, prepared by various European experts for different encounters with the media, politicians, intellectuals and entrepreneurs from all over Europe, over a period lasting almost two years.

“It is said that Europe has been making progress over the last ten years. Ever since the day when, by the Single European Act, it was decided that Europe was to become a single market. And nothing but a market! In fact, it is the market that is making progress, to the rhythm of growing global pressure that is used as the supreme argument. Michel Foucher (ed.)

Geographer and diplomat, Michel Foucher teaches at the École normale supérieure (Paris). He is a member of the Council of Foreign Affairs (Conseil des affaires étrangères). Former Ambassador to Latvia and former Head of the Policy Planning Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
