What are the lessons from Sweden for Greece? What are the lessons from Greece to Sweden? And what can Greece do to also re-emerge victoriously? These are the main subjects of our conference and of the publication that we are launching.
Our publication investigates economic reforms in the Greek and Swedish product and labour markets since the early 1990’s and explores which reforms have been implemented in these two countries, and which reforms remain to be implemented in order to restore competitiveness in an increasingly globalised and interdependent world.
The central purpose of this book is to investigate and compare labor and product market reforms in Greece and Sweden, since the early 1990s in order to see what these two countries from Southern and Northern Europe – both relatively small though very different in terms of culture and institutional settings – can learn from each other. The results suggest that Sweden has undertaken a number of important product market reforms to increase its economic competitiveness.
